The PropertyList WP Plugin is all setup for you and automatically optimises every property for search engines, so your listings rank higher and attract more buyers—without any technical SEO work.

Quick Summary

  • Install the PropertyList plugin.
  • Add the single XML feed URL that comes from PropertyList.es (your XML subscription).
  • The plugin imports all properties automatically every 24 hours.
  • A premade page called PropertyList is created on install — don’t delete it unless you plan to reinstall the plugin to recreate it.
  • Use shortcodes to show filtered lists anywhere: e.g. [propertylist type="villa"],city="Marbella"].
  • Customise branding and contact details from the Settings tab. Analytics (clicks) are visible under the Analytics tab.

What happens next:

  • The plugin will import all properties from that feed and create property listings on your site.
  • Imports / updates run automatically every 24 hours.

3) How imported properties behave

  • Imported properties are locked to the feed. You cannot edit their core fields manually from WordPress — the feed is the source of truth.
  • If you need to change a property, update it at PropertyList.es so the next import (or the next 24-hour cycle) pulls the changes.

Important: The premade PropertyList page is auto-created during plugin activation. If you delete it, the plugin will not recreate it automatically unless you reinstall/activate the plugin again.

4) Use the premade page (fastest setup)

  • A page called PropertyList will appear in your WordPress Pages list after installation.
  • This page is ready to go and will show all imported properties without further configuration. – Full customisations are availble to change colours, fonts and more in the backend settings tab.

Tip: If you prefer a custom layout, use the shortcodes (below) to insert property lists into any page or template. Allowing to show specific property types or locations on any page.

5) Filtering & Shortcodes — show specific properties anywhere

You can create shortcodes to display filtered sets of properties. This is perfect for building niche landing pages, neighbourhood pages, or targeted campaigns.

Examples: [propertylist type="villa"]
[propertylist city="Marbella"]

How to use shortcodes:

  1. Edit any WordPress page or post.
  2. Paste the shortcode where you want the list to appear.
  3. Update/Publish the page.

Common filter fields: type, city (more fields depend on the feed structure).

6) Customisation (Settings tab)

Everything you need for visual and contact customisation is in Settings → PropertyList.

You can:

  • Add your contact details — these will display using the property contact module on property pages.
  • Edit the color scheme for buttons and accents to match your brand.
  • Change fonts to match your site’s look.
  • Show/hide UI elements like search tabs (for example: hide the Short Term tab).
  • Show or hide property reference numbers.

Pro tip: Keep your branding consistent — set primary button color and fonts once in Settings and the plugin will apply them across property pages.

7) Analytics (click tracking)

Go to the Analytics tab inside the plugin to see click performance.

What you’ll see:

  • How many clicks each property receives from your website.
  • A summary of the best-performing properties for the current week and month.

Note: Analytics in the plugin currently tracks clicks only (no impressions or conversion funnels).

8) Recommended workflows (marketing-friendly)

  • Create landing pages by area: Use [propertylist city="<city>"] shortcodes to build hyper-local pages that rank in search and convert traffic.
  • Feature top listings: Put your top-clicked properties on the homepage using the shortcode for that property type or by referencing your best-sellers from the Analytics tab.
  • Lead capture: Make sure your contact details are set in Settings so every property page shows the contact module and collects leads.

9) Troubleshooting & FAQs

Q: The feed isn’t importing. What do I check?

  • Confirm the XML feed URL is correct and active (copy it into a browser to verify it loads).
  • Check server/hosting firewall rules that might block remote requests.
  • Confirm your XML subscription at PropertyList.es is active.

Q: Can I edit imported property text or images?

  • No — imported properties are locked to the feed. Edit them in PropertyList.es; changes will appear after the next import (within 24 hours).

Q: I deleted the premade PropertyList page — can I recreate it?

  • The premade page is created only on plugin activation. To recreate it, deactivate and then reactivate the plugin (or reinstall it). We recommend keeping it so you don’t have to recreate layout blocks.

Q: Can I change how often the import runs?

  • Imports are set to every 24 hours by default.

Q: What data does Analytics capture?

  • Analytics tracks clicks only and shows weekly/monthly top performers.
